Accessibility Statement

Welcome, this is the accessibility statement of the Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland’s Accessibility Monitoring Unit. The saavutettavuusvaatimukset.fi website is governed by the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, which requires that public online services must be accessible. This accessibility statement applies to the website www.webaccessibility.fi, was prepared on 3 June 2020 and updated 20 November 2024. It is based on the Finnish version of the web site, saavutettavuusvaatimukset.fi, and its accessibility evaluation assessed by a third party and the Accessibility Monitoring Unit itself.

The website will be updated and its contents will be transferred to a new publication platform on 1 January 2025 when the task of accessibility supervision is transferred from the Regional State Administrative Agency to the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom.

Accessibility status of the digital service

Partially meets the accessibility requirements.

Non-accessible digital service content (according to WCAG criteria)

  • Main Navigation, menus cannot be closed without removing the mouse focus from the link text

In the main navigation, hovering over the link text opens a menu that cannot be closed without moving the pointer away from the link text. You can close the menu by clicking the arrow next to the link text.

    Accessibility requirements not met

    • 1.4.13 Content on Hover or Focus
  • There are shortcomings in the instructions for the accessibility tool’s selection buttons

Not all help texts for the selection buttons on the first and third pages of the Accessibility Statement tool have been programmatically linked to the selection buttons.

    Accessibility requirements not met

    • 1.3.1 Info and Relationships
  • Visible label or instructions missing from search field

The page header contains a search field that has no visible label or instructions. The search field contains a placeholder text and a magnifying glass icon as a button (search), which together attempt to tell the purpose of the input field.

    Accessibility requirements not met

    • 3.3.2 Labels and Instructions
  • Embedded social media content on the front page does not include language tag

The bottom of the front page has an embedded feed of posts from the accessibility supervision unit on social media service X (formerly Twitter). The posts are mainly in Finnish and Swedish, but the social media service in question does not make it possible to tag the language used in the posts (“tweets”), and it has not been possible to display this information in the embedded feed on the front page either. This means that any content with natural language strings that deviate from the default natural language of the website content cannot be determined programmatically.

    Accessibility requirements not met

    • 3.1.2 Language of Parts
